Hi,
We have a customer from which we just upgraded to the new index, but now we can no longer sort product by "User defined". What am I missing? How can I do this?

That's right - you do not have that in the index - usually it does not make sense.
If you search for products with "whatever" in it, it comes from multiple groups, or you search products of color gray, the result comes from many groups. Or if a product is member of 2 groups, we would not be able to give you a sort value on the flat structure of the index.
A solution could be giving you a field which is "primary group sort id" - it would work in the case where you only have one groupid in your search result, and not much else.

Hi Nicolai,
The primary group sort ID would be good enough for now. I believe the customer understands the issue when a product belongs to multiple groups.
The problem is on pages where we have Ecom navigation, so I think with the primary or first group sort ID would be fine.

Hi guys,
Was this ever implemented?
Ran into this today where I have a simple ecommerce site with two groups with 5 products each. The customer wanted User Defined sorting so I had to switch from publishing a Query / Index to publishing a group. I think in this case, since we're not filtering anyway, that shouldn't make a difference, right?

Hi Imar
No, it was not added yet. Just added it for the next 8.9 hotfix though. TFS#29555

Excellent, thanks!
Ok. Nicolai, will it also be available in 9.2?
regards, Hans
Hi Hans
Yes, of course!
BR Nicolai
Hi Nicolai,
Was this ever implemented? I can't find it in 8.9.1.9.

I found a Generated Field in DW 9.2 named "Sort (Primary Group)", maybe that's the one You're looking for.
Yes, that would be it!
Hi guys,
Anybody actually made this sorting work?
I have been struggling with it for the past hour and I cannot make it work. I am using 9.4.11
Thanks,
Adrian
Hi guys,
I appologise, I have made it work. You have to make sure you have the Default groups set up correctly and that the sorting option is refreshed on the Product catalog module after it is changed on the query.
Thank you,
Adrian
