Hi Adrian,
We know that the package manager in the backend is a bit... new. Some bugs are clearly still present.
Can you walk me through exactly what you did in the package manager? Your video only shows the end-result (which is not what I would expect during any part of an upgrade).
Hi Martin,
I have not done anything. Just upgraded from 9.0.0 to 9.1.3 using the regular zip package.
Then I accessed the Package section to make sure all modules were updated and that;s what I have seen.
I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Adrian
I'll get the one who is working on the package manager to take a look that the exception and then get back to you on your problem.
Thank you.
I would assume it's a missing setting in WebConfig and it has not been added by the upgrade.
Hi Adrian,
Your issue is pure dw 9.1.3 release bug and it will be fixed within pbi#25801 and should be released during dw9.2.
Hi Alexander,
Any chance for a hotfix until 9.2?
I have a solution that has to go live before 9.2 release and one of the main functionalities is importing News Articles from an XML to an ItemType.
That's actually how I noticed this bug.
Thanks,
Adrian
One more thing, Alexander
I have found this not working in previous version of DW9 too.
I have started with 9.0, id did not work. I upgraded to 9.1.2 (another solution), not working. Then I upgraded to 9.1.3 hoping the issue is solved and it did not work there either.
There fore, I think it is safe to say it is related to all DW9 versions so far.
I hope this makes sense.
Thanks,
Adrian
Hi Adrian,
Can you explain why you need the package manager for importing news articles from xml to an itemtype? I'm a bit confused about that part.
I know the package manager did not work in 9.0 - this is because, well, it wasn't quite ready yet. It shouldn't throw the exception you show in the above video, however. Or did it also do that in 9.0?
Hi Martin,
I am sorry. I have mixed the posts. I had a separate post about problems with importing into ItemTypes.
I don't need the package manager if the ItemType Provider is already updated (I cannot check that because I cannot access the package area).
On another solution I noticed that making the upgrade to a higher version did not update the corresponding packaged accordingly and I got a bunch of errors when trying to make the import using ItemProvider. Of course, updating the ItemProvider package did not solve the error, just changed the error with another one. But I think that is related to the ItemProvider package.
Long story short, if there is a way to update the packaged without the package manager, I could use it and wait for the fix in the upcoming version.
Thanks,
Adrian
As of today we don't have an alternative way of updating packages without using the package manager.
For now you'll have to request the updated ItemProvider the old-fashined way (via forum thread as you mentioned).
Hi Martin,
Thanks for the update.
What do you mean by "old-fashioned way" . Can I downlod only the ItemType provider from the Download area?
Thanks,
Adrian
Hi Adrian,
You can request a hotfix which contains a fixed version of the provider.
Programmer help below!
Seeing as our package manager is not quite ready for doing it's job, you can manually use our public package feed to download the latest version of the provider you need, extract the dll(s) and use the updated dll(s) in your bin-folder. Remember to make a backup of your original dlls. :-)
The url is: https://www.myget.org/feed/Packages/dynamicweb-packages
This is NOT the suggested way of working with Dynamicweb, but your use-case seems to warrent trying it out.
Please let me know if this lets you solve your issues.
Hi Martin,
I am afraid I don't understand how to use your suggested method.
I have created an account to MyGet but I can't access the package from the browser.
What do I need for that? Isn't there any way of simply downloading the packages?
Thanks,
Adrian
I see they changed the way the public feeds are made available.
You can now find the feed via the gallery. Search for "Dynamicweb" and it should show up (feed is called dynamicweb-packages).
