Not including part list items in carts

Is there a setting to not include Parts Lists items in an order? We use parts lists on some projects for read-only info. It's useful info but we don't want them to be added to the cart. We just want the parent part. I'm hoping that's an easy configuration setting to not include them. Is that possible?

You want parts lists but you dont :-).

Why not use a related product group or two? That will just display some other products, but do nothing when you add the main product to cart.

You can also choose not to render the parts list items in the cart - they will still be part of the order though.

There is a lot of functionality related to that feature, so we cannot just get rid of them.

Hi Nicolai,

Yeah, I guess it is asking for 5% of the functionality and ignoring the rest. ;)

It almost is a candidate for related items, however we use the quantity field too. It's to show what makes up a product bundle, but there is an actual part number in the ERP for the bundle, so we don't need to actually send the parts to the ERP.

But your questions got me to double checking things. We had tried to turn off the syncing of BOM items to the ERP in a Live Integration module update, and I just realized that it's not working as it should, which caused some funny data. After getting that fixed, I think it's going to be good. We're using the setting to not render them in the cart, so that sounds like it's going to be ok.
