Installation problems with 8.8.9.1 ?

Hello,

 

I recently developped a solution on the newest release version 8.8.1.9. It worked perfectly in local, but I have tried to deploy it on two different server (our own and one at Hostnordic), and I get the attached error : "Configuration file is not well-formed XML ". I have looked for and tried a lot of solutions, but nothing works.

It does not make any sense as the web.config file is indeed correct and contains no XML error whatsoever. We have other DW solutions running on our server, though with previous (but close) versions, which makes me wonder if the problem comes from this DW version.

Any idea ?

It looks like a IIS configuration error.

I'll ask the service desk to take a look at the server if they have access to it.

Hi Gaetan, 

I have checked the server, to make sure that everything is installed and set up correctly and it was. 

It is definitely your web.config that is causing the problem. I have made a backup of it (web - copy.config) and overwritten it with a standard web.config and the backend now works. You can compare the two to see where the cause of the problem might be.

Wow that's REALLY weird. I tried to copy-paste the content of the web.config that I have in local and it works... So I did a compare between the one that works and the one that was causing problems on the server... Zero difference. It works now but no idea why.

Thats the beauty of IT :-). It could be a broken UTF-8 byte order mark or something like that.
