Is an index update required for stock?

Hi there,

I have a batch job that imports stock on a regular basis. The only field that is updated is ProductStock. Do I need to run an index update (we're using the old index) for these changes to apply somewhere? Or is stock always pulled live from the product?

Hi Imar,

 

Not unless you use the stock field in the Query and/or you are using the Query Publisher module.

 

When using the Product Catalogue module with the index, the only thing the Index returns are the AutoID's and then the Product Catalogue module queries the database to get the information. If you were somewhat using the stock in the Query expressions, that could influince the AutoID's.

Hi Nuno

You refer to the new index, Imar the old I guess.

I think it depends on the "Use optimized product retrieval" checkbox. If it is set, stock is managed from the database, otherwise from the index.

With the new index, it needs to be handled by the search on the index.
