Extranet new remind me password feature

Hi guys,

I have an issue with remind me password feature (new version when you can also send link to reset password).

Email is not beying sent to the customer. No error message popping out, all looks really good. But no email received.

Nothing suspicious in System logs also.

My custom email testing app, is able to send email via SMTP server, so SMTP settings and server itself looks OK.

 

Any suggestions where/how I can try looking for more clues?

Find the SMTP log in DW file manager - what does it say? If it delivers the mail to your SMTP, look in that to see what goes wrong.

In MC under smtp settings, you can disable using "Drop folder" - that might also be it - dw uses that if it is setup. It can be misconfigured.

Hi Nicolai,

Can you please tell me where can I find that particular SMTP log in DW File manager?

Cause I can't seem to find anything that is SMTP or Mail log or anything related with this in System/Log/*

In MC there is a log viewer that gives you all log files.

You can find SMTP log files here: \Files\Files\MailLog\.NET

Yes, I did check it, but there was not that much usefull.

I could see some old messages from 08.06.2016, but today we have 13.06.2016 and I tryed to send emails.

Emails did not arrive to mailbox, and no new Log file entries where added, Log file stayed not changed.

Tryed changing SMTP settings, got an exception at once.

Nicolai, is there any way to ensure/check that DW did actually sent an email?

If there is no log file, it was sent.

You still did not answer my first questions - can I see a dump of your SMTP settings? Those are wrong, or your pickup folder is misconfigured or the error is in the SMTP.

There was nothing except for old log entries that where not relevant.

 

I would very much like to like to show you the dump (that you requested), but maybe that could be easyer if you could connect to the solution yourself? I can send it via email.

 

SMTP settings are OK I am more than sure about that.

"or your pickup folder is misconfigured" This can be an issue, but than again, how to check that?

Sorry, I cannot receive support mails. I did not pay for that :-).

You can dump it here. I Gurantee that this is the SMTP on your server. I can have someone look at it for you, but it is billable hours.

Yes, but again Nicolai,

By saying "dump" - I understand write here in forum post. right?

Now question is what exactly am I supposed to "dump".

Is that SMTP settings, like SMTP server, username and password etc...

Or is it SMTP log? Only log I found that has something to do with SMTP is this: http://screencast.com/t/8wq7pXtpXL0k

Otherwise, I am not quite sure what exactly I need to do?

Ok, understood now :)

And as I said, theese settings are OK.

I was able to create my own little email-test program that is able to send emails with theese settings.

hehe :) OK Nicolai, but than 2 things

1) You mentioned "Drop folder" http://screencast.com/t/YBcpctN92R and not "Pickup folder".

2) It is actually the first time I ever encountered this kind of issue, and sure this is the last time, pretty sure about it. Noted, and documented.

Because it was a first time we encountered it - I just did not know what this setting did (or existed) therefore missunderstood your answer.
