New Index and Assortments

Hi Guys,

I have a project where I have used Assortments and New Index.

In the previous setupo (old index) the product list was always filtered through the assortment definitions.

Is it the same situation with the new index? According to my tests, the assortments are not applied to the list when using the new index.

Can anyone confirm?

Thanks,

Adrian

Hi Adrian

The new index is really really stupid - it does not know ANYTHING about Dynamicweb. (This is not a joke).

Dynamicweb gives it data to index, and Dynamicweb asks for results based on the search. So if Dynamicweb needs things like assortments, languages etc. Dynamicweb makes sure data for it gets indexed and makes sure to give it search parameters to match that data. Just so you understand how to get your 'head' around this.

To set up assortments, you have to tell the index to take that into consideration - you do that by adding a criteria to the search. See dump.

Hi Nicolai,
Thanks. It totally makes sense.

I just wanted to make sure I am not developing something that is already developed.

And since the ProductCatalog is usually the one that get the most of the attention, I though that it kept something from the previous index.

But I see now that it was implemented directly in the index and that makes total sense.

Thanks a lot,
Adrian
