Address Validation - Avalara

Hi,

I have been some problems with the Avalara address validation:
- When those addresses are filled (Address and Address2) and one of these is invalid for avalara,  it seems the addresses are switching content between address 1 and address 2 when avalara makes suggestions to the user for a better address.

Someone had this issue before?

Best regards,

I'll send it to QA. We have not seen this before.

Hi,

I'll check it, but our Avalara account (created by Imar) is not working at the moment. Imar needs to contact Avalara to get it activated again (emailed Imar).

Kind regards,
Merethe

Hi all,

the issue is reproduced in fact (I've tested using another Avalara's account still valid). New TFS 23445 has been created, thanks.

Hi Imar and Ricardo,

I'm not sure if there is a bug, but correct me if I'm wrong :)

The primary and secondary addresses are also swapped here. I used the address from the email from Imar:

Address                            PO BOX 2203

Secondary address            ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

Postal code                      94026-2203

City                                  MENLO PARK

Country                            United States of America

Region                             California

Is changed by Avalara to:

Address                       ACCOUNTS PAYABLE

Secondary address       PO BOX 2203

Postal code                  94026-2203

City                              MENLO PARK

Country                         United States of America

Region                           California

BUT isn’t it corrected to the “right” format – with Account payable as primary and PO Box as secondary?

I found a Cisco PO Box address with Accounts Payable as primary (as after the Avalara correction).

Mailing address:
[Insert Cisco entity]
Accounts Payable
PO Box #696024

San Antonio, TX 78269

Address is found here:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/about/supplier-information/access-non-manufacturing-supplier-connection/existing-supplier-guidelines-information/accounts-payable-information/invoice-payment.html

I have tried with the address in the example from Ricardo and it’s also reproduced and gets this new address:

R&D Dept

223 Lake Dr

19702-3320 Newark

United States

Delaware

I have googled US address formats and found this page:

http://www.bitboost.com/ref/international-address-formats/united_states/

   JOHN "GULLIBLE" DOE

CENTER FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO DEPOSED NIGERIAN ROYALTY

   421 E DRACHMAN

   TUCSON AZ 85705-7598

   USA

Here the format is also listed with a “department” before the address.

Another page from USPS with a tip:

--If you can’t fit the suite or apartment number on the same line as the delivery address, put it on the line ABOVE the delivery address, NOT on the line below.

http://pe.usps.com/businessmail101/addressing/deliveryAddress.htm

I guess that this is why R&D Dept is swapped to the first line.

Kind regards,
Merethe
