Drag and drop file upload

Hi

Have just had a look at the new interface, and must say first impression is really positive. I love it :)

It would be a very nice addition, if it was possible to drag and drop files from personal computer to the folder in Dynamicweb backend.

I think the upload window as of old, does more harm than good, because it is another popup window that can dissapear in the background, and be confusing. I also claim that for most of the end users, it would be best if we as spesialists would manage these cropping and filesettings on a folder level, so that the enduser only concern will be to upload to the correct folder, or a folder in the correct three structure

One of the main issues, that costumers think is confusing and not userfriendly, is the way the system handles files, and especially images.

They often say, why can´t it be as easy as uploading an image to Facebook.

It would be really nice, if it was possible to drag and drop images and files to content areas when editing the website. It would also be nice, if it was possible to set the system to a mode, where the users actually dont have to go into to filemanager. In other words, if you wanted to add a file or an image, you should just drag and drop it to the content area. The system should take care of the rest.

The way umbraco handles Images  is another way, that would definetely be a huge improvement. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tF03jgCgV7s

Can´t wait for the new UI, and hope the file and media managing area will be optimized.

I know this is a very ambitious request - but some of the systems that costumers compare Dynamicweb to, have a this or this´ish option

Hi Hans

We are fully aware of the issues with upload - we also had the discussions last year on Tech Conference.

But fear not - it is in progress already to completely changed. The current upload window will be kept - but as a secondary option. Primary upload will be from where the file selector is. You will see a preview of the image, be able to upload right there, without a lot of dialogs.

In the file manager it self, you will be able to click to upload, and only see the "Choose files" dialog from your browser. No DW Windows or anything you do not understand. We also have drag and drop in consideration. It looks good!

Thank you for the input - will keep you posted when there are any news on this.

On the file selector there is no drag and drop option. Only direct upload by button (which is also new)
