Link Item field: bug getting paragraph's name

Hi,

There's a minor bug in the Link item type field. If we select a paragraph (for example ID=13), we save&close and then reload the item, the link loads PageID's 13 name, instead of the paragraph's name.

The value is stored accurately, but is a bit confusing for the backend user.

Hi,

I can't reproduce your setup. What field type are you using. What version are you using?

We have a feature backlog (not prioritized yet) about resolve and show paragraph name for link item types. Here is my example with "link" and "link to item" field types with both page and paragraph:

Kind regards,

Hi Merethe,

This is a Link field type in DW 8.8.0. If you get into the website can you reproduce the problem?

Hi,

I need an answer on this. The customer gets confused and feels he needs to select the paragraph over and over to be sure the system if picking up the correct paragraph.

I thought I had already an answer to this (maybe on another topic), but I can't find it, so sorry for that.

Hi,

Actually I found it. It's on known bugs as TFS 41130.

One important thing is that I need this fix in DW8 please.

It will not be fixed. It cannot support having all 3 settings set - it is impossible without a major rewrite. We just changed this to kindof work with all 3 settings in DW9 - on 8, you have to NOT set the "store only ID" checkbox and use the API to find the paragraph id instead.

Hi Nicolai,

Got it. We'll remove the "Store only ID" to get this working in DW8.

Thank you,

Or only do it with either page or pargraphs - not the combo

Hi Nicolai,

In another project (the one Ricardo was trying to get an answer for) we only have "Paragraphs" and it does not work with only storing the ID, that's why we figured to be a bug. Nonetheless, it works when disabling "Store only the page or paragraph ID" so we're good for DW8.

Thanks,

Nuno
