Unable to locate products, while adding product to assortment.

Hi everyone,

Customer called and reported an issue today.

Customer has 7-8 assortments settedup.

Each assortment is connected to it's own Group in User management,

When it comes to product connection - When editing assortment customer adds single product, and they manage it on day-to-day basis.

And suddenly One of the Assortment is "Unable to see any products in ecommerce". 

In other words, when adding product to assortment, a little window pops-out, normally one should be able to locate product or search for one.

On this particular Assortments - in that small window - user can't see any products to choose, and if he tryes to search - he gets Null pointer exception.

 

Any clues why this can happen?

Where does the products come from? Could it be one of them has a weird productid?

Otherwise provide us a link here or on a case to the service desk.

Hi Nicolai,

We created a case and got it resolved.

Sharing my findings.

Appearently Customer deleted product in eCommerce - and they throught (I also thought the same) product should be removed from Assortments aswell automatically.

But appearently it does not.

Since there where some products in Assortment that where not found in EcomProducts table - that cause the issue.

Cleaned up the database, and now it works as it should.

Hi Nicolai,

 

Shouldn't this work automatically? Working with assortments and very large databases and customers who might also add products manually to assortments, I would expect that when we delete a product or group, it should also remove it from existing Assortments. Or is there any logic for it, such as keeping references for integration scenarios?

If you rebuild the assortments index after delete, it will not include the products in the assortment.

On the case it was also checked if we could edit the assortment after products were deleted, and we can. So it is probably af fixed bug.
