Smart Search with Custom Fields

Im trying to create a smart search with a dynamic value. The dynamic value is a custom product field.

I have read this : http://manual.dynamicweb-cms.com/Dynamicweb-eCommerce/Smart-searches.aspx

But it does not say anything if custom fields can be used as values.

I have tried with @Product(Field.ForelasareName) and @Product(ForelasareName) but it does not seem to work (It works as expected with a hard coded value).

I have updated the index.

Am I doing something wrong or is it not supported.

That's a bug. I've created TFS item 19843 for this. We will let you know here, when the bug is fixed.

Hi

If this is classified as a bug will it be included in some hotfix? 8.6.1.27?

We need this and our customer can't upgrade to 8.8. Kind of high business impact for them...

Hi Frederik,

We are looking into getting this fixed in Dynamicweb 8.8 at the moment, and have noticed a problem with dynamic values in related smart searches on products, which is the only place dynamic values are supported. If the fix looks good we will look into a merge.

Kind regards

Christian

Hi,

It seems that the functionality indeed does work for related smart searches on products, using the ProductSmartSearchRelations.html template on the product catalog to output it. The syntax is @Product(ProductFieldText) to get the value of this field on the currently viewed product.

Kind regards

Hi Frederik

It has been fixed and is now being tested - as Christian has stated above, he will decide to move it to 8.7 or 8.6 if it is possible.

Hi Fredrik,

As mentioned in my post above it seems that the functionality does indeed work the way it is intended, that is for related smart searches using the ProductSmartSearchRelations.html template.

Kind Regards

Christian
