Shop Permissions

Hello guys,

I have a situation with a customer that has multiple shops (one for each country) and several groups of users that have access to these shops.

I am trying to set up a flexible permissions cenario because the users come and go and remaking the permissions every time takes a lot of time (there are around 20 shops and websites).

What I tried so far was creating a user group for each country and add users inside those groups. I have set up permissions per group and everything seems to work very fine for websites. For Shops is a whole different story.

I have a lot of cases where the users from one country are managing shop from multiple countries. In the product Catalogue permissions, if I set the Allow for a country User group and Deny for another, even if the users are in both groups they don;t see the shops. The websites are accessible following the same scenario.

I know that I have set this scenario in a previous version of DW and it worked for shops as well. No (8.6.1.5) it seems to behave differently.

Was there anything changed in this version? Is there another way to accomplish this scenario?

Thanks,

Adrian

Hello Adrian,

Which version have you upgrated by 8.6.1.5? You can find all changes were done in main release (8.6.1.0) and hotfixes, (include 8.6.1.5) using http://developer.dynamicweb.com/releases/dynamicweb-8-6-1/hot-fixes-8-6-1.aspx. As per the data, you can see that there were no any changes added to Shop security.

Hello Oleg,

I cant' remember exactly. I believe 8.5.something.

I have checked the hotfix list and I could not find anything related to permissions or shops. That's why I was asking.

I really don't understand why it is not working anymore.

Thanks anyway.

Hi Adrian

What you did

1) Creating a user group for each country

2) Add users inside those groups.

3) Set up permissions per group and everything seems to work very fine for websites.

4)  In the product Catalogue permissions, I set the Allow for a country User group and Deny for another
( even if the users are in both groups they don;t see the shops)

I have made the above test on my local solution but do see the shops ?

Could you try to see if the groups you are working with have "Apply to children " set or group permissions are part of other groups ?

This test was made on 8.6.1.17 . I donĀ“t recall that we did permissions change to Ecommerce in any recent versions.

If this is still a problem, then please make a supportcase on Engage, so we have a chance to see the setup of the site

Kind Regards

Hello Kristian,

Thanks a lot for the clarification. Can you please explain what is the role of "Apply to children" setting?

Thanks,

Adrian

Can you help me understand something?

If I add all users in a group. Let's say Brugere and I set "No Control" for Brugere and "Full control" for the country group, it looks like Brugere has priority over Country group.

It does not work the same as general permissions where you first deny permissions for all and then allow for the groups you want.

At least this is the behaviour I get when trying this scenario.

Do you have any other suggestion?

Adrian
