Variant does not have product value

Hi,

 

When we have a field that is the same across variants and we update the value on the main product, the variant record is not updated.

 

The tags/API does provide the accurate value, but the visual check makes it look odd. The interface should be showing the value I would get in the backend.

Hi Nuno,


could you please provire more information about what you do and what you want to get as the result. Do not forget about settings in
Management Center-> Ecommerce -> Advanced Configuration -> Fields 
where you able to set which fields will be changed when field of main product is updated.

Despite the fields being "fixed" for the main product, I would expect to see the fields updated when the variant pop-up opens, without having to go to the frontend to be sure the changes are there.

Hi Nuno,

I would like to ask you few more things: Version of Dynamicweb that you are using and what kind of fields was on video(was it product fields or product catigory fields)

Hi Viktor,

 

I tested in both 8.6.0.6 and 8.6.1.5 and it happens with all fields that are the same acrross all variants (Editor, text field, multiselect).

 

I took a look at the database and this is what I think happens: Dynamicweb saves the changes in the main product (only) and that why we don't see them in the variant (pop-up). The fields are blocked as we cannot change them, so that's ok, but we should see the updated value.

 

The API (template engine) does render the correct value though, but when our client is creating new products he get's suspicious whether or not the value is accurate.

 

Another issue I found with this bug is that, if at any given time a field starts allowing change, the backend user needs to copy the values from the main product, because the field is empty.

Hi Nuno,

today i've setup latest 8.6.1 version and was trying to reproduce the issues see Updating field values and turning on/off setting so looks like latest 8.6.1 have already fixed those issues.

I noticed 1 importan thing. You tested with Product fields and I tested with Product Category fields.

.

.I went to a 8.6.1.16 version and noticed the bug (Product Category Fields) is reproduced.
