What does this option do? If it's unchecked all href="#" url's are converted to href="javascript:void(0)", why?

Compatibility to very old days and some weird browsers...

Then remove it? It's enabled by default... These days developers use href="#" for valid html and to target anchors with Javascript, javascript:void(0) blocks this...
