Address Validation

HI,

How does the address Validation work?

  • We have a user that uses Avalara (Tax provider) and works OK
  • We try to use the same credentials for the Address Validation with no sucess
  • The address validation was expected to work as soon as the address is entered, but only after we get some taxes

By the way would the address be validated in every cart step?

Best Regards,

Nuno

Hi Nuno,

From the developer of the connector (emphasize is mine):

>> address validation exist on each cart step before checkout But you should have a loop AddressValidators in template to see result

Does the template output the correct loop in all of the steps? Maybe it's just outputting regular error (that are created by the Avalara tax connector)?

Hi,

There is a default template in the cart that can be used: InformationAddressValidation.html (I have attached my test Information template). The credentials are the same as in Avalara setup.

My simple setup with this template works like this:

Kind regards,

Hi Merethe,

It worked but not as I expected. I think we found a minor bug also:

  • If address2 is not submitted (NULL), we get an address error - OK... although empty we need to submit it
  • When submitting a wrong address2, the validation says the addresses need to be switched around - The tax provider then throws an error, we need to deactivate the address validator

Check out the screencast for more info

Are we doing something wrong, or did we came across 2 bugs?

Best Regards,

Nuno

Hi Merethe,

Can you take a look at this? It is really important to get it working accurately.

Best Regards,

Nuno
