Hej guys,

Just tryed to upgrade the DW app from 8.4.1.2 to DW 8.5.0.1

Removed all custom code, just upgraded plain application, getting this error message here:

http://screencast.com/t/Fb0PpjbwSxU

Any suggestions what possibly can cause this?

Check your GlobalSettings file. Does it have any comments or CData elements? I believe neither are supported, but I am not 100% sure. Worth a try though.

Never mind. I thought this was related to reading settings, but I see it's about the Navigation XML.

Sorry.

Take a look at the website item and make sure that you  don't have any field with a systemname that contains parenthesis (or other invalid characters).

Hej Morten and Imar,

@Morten, I actually had the same suspocion, because for some reason all of the pages, turned into the "item icon" (a blue box), but I did not use Item pages on this solution, I used items but only for paragraphs.

But you are saying here "Take a look at the website item"

Is it a specific item tipe I have to look at, or?

Since you are not using items for website or page properties this problem must be caused by something else. Apparently, somewhere you have created something with a parenthesis in the name. Sorry, I have no clue where this could be.

I have previously seen this issue with all pages being displayed with a blue box icon, but I don't know what caused it.

Well I didn't use the items for managing site, or page properties simply because site was started back in summer 2013.

That was right after DWTC 2013, and items where not as great and powerfull, and stable as they are today or rather after DWTC 2014...

Not much to be sorry about Morten :) Hopefully something will pop up in my mind, I will let you know here if I find anything.

Meanwhile if someone else has encountered The '(' character, hexadecimal value 0x28, cannot be included in a name. Server Error, would appreciate your input on this one :)

Looking at the stack trace, it seems like you have a <ul class="dwnavigation"> tag with some settings Dynamicweb does not like. Maybe in Razor? Maybe with a mix of ' and " in attribute values?

Hej Nicolai,

I just checked, and here is what I found, was quite surprised to see that all of the sudden it stopped working.

I am calling one more menu in simmilar way (same menu settings) but DW does not like only this one.

If I remove another menu (with simmilar settings), this one still causes the error

<ul class="MainTopMenu dwnavigation" id="MainTopMenu" settings="startlevel:1;endlevel:3;template:LIClean.xslt;expandmode:All;parentid:57;" >

<li>Link item1</li>

</ul>

The only way I am able bring site back if I remove "dwnavigation" from ul class.

As soon as I remove it - page works perfectly.

Tried to add remove settings, and different variations. Node 57 is new folder node.

Page names are just normal page names. Another menu does generate menu from the same Node.

LiClean is not modifies.
