Hi there,
On one of our solutions we recently had the statistics table cleared for all CMS-related statistics which were not related to eCom orders (or the other Ecommerce reports available in Ecommerce statistics). That made a huge reduction in the size of the SQL for this solution!
We would like to request an option in the management center for the administrator to select which main areas of the statistics is actively gathering data. As a start it could be just two areas/types of statistics: CMS and ECOMMERCE. They could both be set to Active as a default, but the administrator should be able to switch of the CMS-related statistics e.g. on a shop.
That way it is possible to reduce the size of the SQL, for certain solutions, that only wants the Ecommerce-related statistics. Google Analytics is widely used for CMS-related statistics (as well as Ecommerce statistics), but I find the DW-Ecommerce statistics more useful because of the accuracy regarding updated order data.
We know there are a number of functionalities, that require CMS statistics in order to work, so naturally CMS statistics would have to be activated in order to use that functionality. But I believe there are clients who would benefit from a more lean SQL until they are ready/choose to make use of these features.
Hope this makes sense :-)
Catch you on the flip side...
