Good idea. Need some more input.

What should happen when rendering the product field of the item with the product in frontend? Should it just give you all the fields of the product in the template?

Actually, I was thinking about selecting multiple products and then parse these in the template as a Products loop. That way you can select one or more products, and the product tags are isolated inside the loop and not just mixed with the rest of the tags, and so you can use a snippet or include for listing the products. And then, of cause, the benefits of interacting with the products with extenders and providers. And the beauty of it, it will take you roughly 25 minutes to implement;-)

Is there a product selector available today? Have not seen it yet.
I have just read the release notes of 8.4.1 and see there should be a product selector. I can not find it in the items backend ;)

Could there also be an item type selector on a product?

I think you've missed it - try to search "product selector field for items" on the release notes on developer and you will find it! 

Other way around is not possible or planned due to performance right now.

Yes i saw it in the documentation :)

Unfortunately on my local solution it is not visible with version 8.4.1.3

Strangly though we have one live solution running 8.4.1.3 and this one does show the product selector.

Very strange?? I tried rerunning updates but this does not help.

Have hou got the update module on your own solution?

You mean "Update Agreement"? That one is active.

I also tried different license configurations like profesional 2014 premium 2014 and enterprise 2014.

yes "update agreement" module... If it's not working I'll have to ask you to contact the support team.

oke no problem. It is just a local solutionset which has been upgraded to 8.4.1. Let me see if i can first reinstall the solutionset.

I see, you made the product selector. Great! It would be cool if you made on for users also, and the selected user was rendered in front end:)
