Are there any module requirements regarding the content_type in the properties => layout section, in order to have the content_type dropdown displayed (I am missing it on a location instance of DW i just upgrated to 8.4).

Or am i missing a setting, in order for it to be displayed?

It is part of 8.4. But if the solution does not have an update agreement, the feature will not be present.

If the solution is 8.4 and has an update agreement, send me a link and I'll have a look.

The solution is running running on my local machine, so a link wouldn't do any good.
But you gave me the answer in your reply, I just had to add the "Module": Update (Set/update ModuleAccess to 1). After I did that, the feature is now present.

So to answer my own initial question: Yes, there is a module requirement, the Update "module" is required.
