Handling of websites in administration

Hi Dw,

I am missing proper handling of multiple websites with differents domains in the administration.

E.g. I have website.dk, website.no and website.se, and when I access the administration with website.dk/admin it would be very nice to have the content from associated website (website.dk) displayed and when I access the administration with website.se/admin I expect to see the content from the Swedish website and not from the default website.

Besides this I am missing that the "preview" button of a page in the administration uses the associated domain for the website and not the domain used to access the administration.

Best regards, Anders

Hi Anders,

The above is actually already a task in our backlog and is planned for 8.4

Hi Anders (And Asger)

No 1 is a good idea. Do you know, you can enable a selectbox of websites to log into? Set the "Show at login" - "websites" setting in MC:

http://manual.dynamicweb-cms.com/Dynamicweb-On-line-Manual/Management-Center/System/Solution-settings.aspx

It does not detect it self, but you can skip a step.

No 2 using the primary domain. That is not always possible. Because pages that are unpublished cannot be previewed on other host names because you are not logged in, somre redirects will give you problems with seeing pages that will redirect in frontend, showing versions, drafts etc. are also an issue changing hostname. Because changing the hostname on the preview will basically give you the page without being logged into the backend and limiting the needed permissions.

Thanks for the link, but still it would be great to have the feature :-)

You are right that there can be some restrictions, but often it is not possible to display the page, because it is associated with a different domain than used for accessing the administration. I see the problem with the cookie, but normally I would accept to log in the frontend as an regular user, and not using my credentials from the backend login.
