It would be nice if custom userfields did maintain their values after postback. The problem occurs if you have a page with the extranet module attached and the module is set to allow creation of extranet users. If a user tries to create an extranet user on the page and the form for user creation contains one or more custom userfields these fields does not maintain their values if the form does not validate after postback (eg. the user already exists).
