AD Integration and user management

Hi,

We are going to integrate an Active Directory with a DW-solution. We got some documentation on it - and in that it says the following: " To use AD integration to authenticate users from an AD, the website has to be installed on a server which is a member of the Active Directory used for authentication.". What excactly does member mean in this context? Can anyone enlighten me on this :-)?

Mvh. Emil

Member means that the server has to be member of the Domain Controller holding the AD with all the users... That is how AD works - computers and servers are members of the DC, the DC holds all the data in the AD - including users - either the root or somewhere in the forest if applicable.

So if you have a hosted webserver, it will normally be member of the Hosting centers AD and can of course not access user information in company X.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer :-)

The client has an AD on their own server and a DW-solution at Hostnordic. Is it possible to get that to work with DW's built in AD-functionality (ie. without custom-development)?

Mvh. Emil

Hi Emil, wanted to ask you if you had any luck with AD integration? Maybe you could share some of your findings? :)
And maybe there is someone who actually done that? Would be extremely glad to know more about this...
