I’ve been reviewing the User Management module that replaces the old Extranet Extended module.
Great features:
I like the way you can loop through the validation this makes it easier to meet the frontend validation demands of customers and meet technical standards for safely and correct functioning of the application.
I like the way you can validate wrong and right passwords.
Being able to use extensibility on user management.
I'm happy with users being integrated instead of having all different classes for different modules
Enhancement requests
Being able to define validation from the backend
You can’t influence user management validation in the backend at all. I would like to see validation here to be implemented the same way as validation of ecommerce has been implemented where you can change messages and extend it with extensibility. For example create your own zip code validation that meets your countries needs or validate an email address on uniqueness.

There is no way except for JavaScript to change the English validation messages in the local language in the frontend, which is strange if the whole website is in a different language you would expect this to be configurable in the backend.
Why is the email address validated while creating a user management account and not when changing it?
Validate on duplicate emails would be really nice.
Logon and Logoff without old extranet
Since usermanagement is supposed to replace extranet. I’m missing global tags for user management “log in” and couldn’t find a way to “log in” or “log out” with the user management module. The only way you can logon (without using extranet) now is the automatic log on after creating an account.
Newsletter integration
Some integration with the newsletter V3 module would be great. This means being able to subscribe a user to newsletter when registering a user and edit subscriptions when loged on in the user profile.
More notification subscribers
"On saving" notification subscriber would be nice.
