Is it possible instead of adding a virtuel folder (with the files folder located outside the solution) to add the files folder inside our custom solution directly to avoid using solution folders and virtuel folders and just have them inside our project, im not sure if this will cause any problems for dw?
I don't see any complications in this as long as the solution is not shared among several sites. Why do you not want to have a virtual dir to your Files folder?
We are looking into swapping out VSS with SVN, and it seems it dosn't understand the use of solution folders in VS therefore would we like to avoid creating solution folders with the templates folders.
When having the files folder in the project we can just include files to the project as need'd from the files folder.
There's no problem in doing so. We've always used the Virtual Directory approach in our hosting environment because it allows us to use a single DW core for multiple solutions, which makes it a whole lot easier to update the solution. But I've seen many custom installations where the structure you're asking about is used for various reasons, so just go ahead.
