eCom Catalogue sub-category page

Reply

Hi I’m developing a web shop based on the newest version of dynamic web 2008-03. One of the assumptions is to have category tree having main categories, and sub categories or might be even sub-sub categories and so on. The eComerce catalogue in control panel supports creating such structures. However I can't see similar functionality in the eCom Catalogue module. Is it possible to setup the eCom module in such a way that first one goes to the page with main categories then after clicking on one of them one goes to the page with sub categories and so on up till the product page.

I'm sorry for the late response, but I've completely missed your thread.

The feature you're requesting is not out-of-the-box functionality, however, you're still able to achieve this without having to do any custom coding. The XSLT based eCommerce menu actually is able to output the complete combined with the correct XSLT, so using this approach you can actually create this browse-like feature of groups where you only display groups beneath the chosen group.

You're probably thinking, that this only displays the groups in the menu, but here is the fun part. When you create a menu, you assign a template tag for that menu. And this template tag you can actually insert anywhere on the page as you like, so you can even insert the menu tag in the source view of the paragraph editor and have the menu displayed together with the sequence of paragraphs.

Using this approach you can limit the number of configuration pages to on per main group or even one single page depending on your page setup.
