Hi,



for our shop, and for most shops I assume, the discount module is very interesting. You get a lot of configuration options and it's easily extended (we created discounts of product groups).



However we run into problems in the actual shop that customers visit. There doesn't seem to be any functionality (besided the shopping cart) to inform the customer about discounts. The product lists and product pages should be aware of any discounts that apply to the products shown so you can show customers the 'before' and 'after' prices. In the current state customers might go purchase the item somewhere else as it seems to be to expensive in our shop because they didn't see the 50% discount they would have gotten.



Are there any plans on extending the discount functionality?



What others ways are there to inform users about discounts?

Hi,

We've no such a feature, but you can introduce your own template for the product list, e.g. . But to fill this tag with the real value, you've to write template extender. I thought about writing an extension for it but this kind of functionality is so essentieel that I can't imagine that DW is working on it themselves.


 


Extending the discounts seems pretty complex because of the way the actual discount data is stored in the database (xml in a non xml field).


 


In the roadmap I see several updates planned for the ecom module, what kind of updates can we expect?

Unfortunately, this feature is not in our roadmap for e-Commerce currently. But we will certainly take it into consideration when we plan the next development cycle.


 


We really appreciate your feedback on this subject, and I understand your difficulties reading our roadmap. The roadmap isn't that detailed and I will ask our Product Manager to add more details to it.
