MS SQL server versions?

Reply

Hi.

I recently (yesterday) tried to set up a test environment with the DefaultEmptyData.bak file from the eCommerce Thread. I got on-disk structure 611 and mine was 539.

I have tried porting the Access files to to sql server and gets the same error.

Then I went looking for some documentation on which version of ms sql server is required. I found none.. Even your extarnal hosting document mentions a sql server, not minimum required version.

Your 8015_ tecnical releasen notes doesn't mention a sql sever version.

I even found a document called "

DYNAMICWEB SDK – DATABASE USE AND

DESCRIPTION."

I does mention the two 2 types ms access and ms sql, but again no version number.

What do I do to get an SQL up and running ?

/Regards

Hauke

The bak file was generated from a 2005 version of SQL server (compatibility level 9). It will not install on MS SQL Server 2000. If you need an SQL server database for 2000, please Appendix E in this document that describes how to upsize from your MS Access databases:

Please note that Ecom runs 2005 alone.

The error you're describing leeds med to beleive that you're attempting to restore a 2005 backup file on a 2000 SQL server. Is this the case?

Sort of. I tried to get a 2000 sql up and running, but it seems that all your files are for the newer 2005  version. As I mentioned earlier, I tried to upsize ms-access files also, but no luck there either.

A suggestion for future DB versions.. instead of actual DB files, why not sql script files with create scripts for the db  ?
