Migrate custom item types from Rapido to Swift solution

Can someone tell us what would be the easiest way to migrate existing custom item types (Recipes) from one DW solution (Rapido) to a new DW solution (Swift)?

We are looking to migrating both custom item type as well as the content.

Hi Barry

You should be able to copy the XML files for the said item types. After the copy, maybe move them to an item folder that makes sense for you (like Swift items are in "Swift" folder in item settings).

Then change the restriction rules so the item types can be created in the structure that makes sense - if the item type is for pages or for rows. In later versions of Dynamicweb, you can set the allow under parent on your custom item type so you do not have to touch Swift item types.

When this has been done, it is possible to create content using your item types in the page tree or as columns in the grid.

The last part is to modify your templates to render your item data in a way that fit in the Swift structure.

As a bonus you can consider adding Swift settings like theme etc.
