Standard rss feed without the author

I would like to not include the author in the rss  feed.

It includes the logged in editors name automatically and changing the different tempaltes in the RSS folder does not seems to change the output.

Where/which template should i change and what?

That is not possible.

Needless to say you would not have that issue using items...

So i should use the new custom rss building concept?

Can it be used with News V2?

I can not find the guide to using the new rss concept - can you provide a link?

Hi Per

You cannot use the new approach with the old news module - unless you use the datalist module to publish the news items with. But that is not a simple task (permissions, groups, dates, redirects etc.).

What you really should do, is creating an item type for news, using that in the tree along with an item publisher.

You can download an entire site with news and RSS implented using items - the example from the partner conference:

https://github.com/dynamicweb/tech-conf-2014

A guide:

  • Create an item type of type news (attached to this thread)
  • Create a template for showing the news items  (attached to this thread)
  • Use the item publisher to create a news list
  • Use the item publisher to create a news list for RSS. Use the attached 'Nolayout' layout also attached to this thread

Thanks.

With hundreds of news in the news module an migration to items is not an option.

The new rss functionality will work with ecom and other modules?

The new "rss" functionality is just a couple of new features on how to publish data from modules. So you can publish anything in Dynamicweb that can be published using this new approach - as RSS, Json, XML, CSV - whatever.

Thinking about it, of course you can do the same using the Newsv2 module.

Create an empty page, add the nolayout layout, add the news module as a paragraph to that page and change to a new News list template based on the one you can find in \nolayout\ItemPublisher\List\RssNews.html (that is item based - need to change it to use News module tags.
