Smart search on users

Hi,

I love the smart search idea, but I (just this once ;-) cannot find documentation on how to use it, for users that is.

I create a smart search which returns a number of accessuser based on content in a accessuser field.

Where can I use this great smart search?

I cannot see it in the Accessuser management part as I would expect. I mean I define a "view"/"category" which contains accessuser which all conform to a smart list filter - sounds logical. Is that not the way that smart search work for eCommerce product?

Please help me: How do I use my accessuser smartlist?

Med venlig hilsen / Kind regards

For now you can use it as recipient groups in the e-mail marketing module.

Hi Nicolai,

Ok... for now... :-)

Is there any way to get the smart search from a Dynamicweb Datalist?

No. But in datalist you can make a view with the same kind of UI....

Hi Sten,

I'm glad to know you like SmartSearch - I'm a fan too :-)

SmartSearch was a concept we introduced when we started designing e-mail marketing and we copied it to work on both Products and Users - until now you have only been able to use the SmartSearch on Users inside e-mail marketing as Nicolai wrote - from 8.3 you'll have access to them in our general user control. This means you'll both have them in the User Management as a group and anywhere else you'll normally access user groups.

Hope this will help you out - please let me know, if your customers have other needs for SmartSearch.

Hi Asger,

The concept of filtering data based on rules is a generel great idea, something which every data management is based upon.

The smart thing of smart search is the interface - as you at one time talked about: Based on Apple iTunes Smart playlists.

Somehow it has the same nature of Datalists, so perhaps you could allow for dynamic/parameter based use of smart lists.

I would love it if users found using smart lists could have same rights/status in Dynamicweb. Say if you could choose to use it for permissions on say pages, you could then find accessusers who is older than 18 years and let parts of your website only be available to users who are older than 18 years :-)

How about adding smart lists for items?

Hi again,

With 8.3 you CAN use SmartSearch to setup permissions - so you can set pages only available for people over 18, if you have such kind of customers :-)

SmartSearch for items is on the list but not scheduled yet...
