Hi,
As the headline says. Is it possible to include a virtual directory on the iis an then get it to show up in DW backend file archive?
It's a local directory/disk-drive witch is located outside the solution folder?
I've tryed it but nothing show's. What am I missing and is it even possible?

That is not possible.
It once was, but not any more due to improved security in Windows.
Before that would be possible, IIS (w3wp.exe) should run as a user that have access to the network and that is a huge security problem.
Best way is to create a sync job between the network folder and a local copy.

Wouldn't it be possible to create a dw file handler that uses a combination of dw security and impersonation? Maybe something like NetworkFolder in Synkron VIA?
This feature would be very relevant on intranet solutions where files from multiple directories and servers should be available.

Yes - that would be possible.

Will you consider adding this feature in the near future?
Making it possible to extend the file archive with custom add-ins would be great... custom folder types, context menus etc.

YES.
It is a great idea. Will look into it.

When setting up impersonation on a virtual directory that maps a shared folder, you can actually download files from that share if you know the path. You just can't see the share in backend.
