I'm having a weird issue where the product number is being reverted to blank/empty when I try to set it to a specific value. Any thoughts as to why OR how I can drill down further?

I used SQL Profiler but got a weird result. Looks like it's setting the Number to NULL https://www.screencast.com/t/CHGRvf3o but I don't know why.
I am using 9.9.1
