Ctrl+S in template editor executes Save and Close but Save would be much better

Hi there,

Saving a template in the editor using the shortcut Ctrl+S saves the template and then closes it. Can that be changed to Save only? It's pretty annoying to have to reopen the template after each change.

Thanks!

Hi Imar,

Edit screens are already supposed to work like that: Save on Ctrl+S and Save and close on Ctrl+Shift+S. I have just tested it on 10.4.8, 10.6.7 and our main branch (next release). All version behave as expected.

Which version of DW10 are you using?

Hi Jeppe,

I am on 10.6.7 and for some reason it doesn't reproduce for me currently when editing from Assets. Pretty sure there must be a path where it doesn't work as it annoyed the heck out of me yesterday :-)

Once scenario where it does close the screen is when you edit a template from an app (ie, open a column, switch to the App tab and click the Edit icon for a template on the app). When saving, the editor closes giving you only one opportunity to edit the template. Should it stay open there?

If you find that path, please let me know. I'm interested in seeing why it behaves differently in some situations 🙂

With regard to column editing. Yes, it's by design. When editing something in a modal (slide-over or a dialog), the Save action closes it. Whereas if you edit something in the workspace, it stays open. It comes down to what we expect people to edit in modals.

There's probably room for improvement here, so I've referred it to our Content PM and UX Lead so they can take a look at it.
