How to export or filter related products (product relations) at scale in DW10?

Hi team,

We’d like to gain better insight into Related Products across our full product catalog in Dynamicweb 10, ideally with options to filter or export them at scale.

Current situation:

  • The Product Relation Group categories are available in Queries, but only as fields specific to a given group.

  • This approach doesn’t give us a generic or complete overview across all products.

  • Related products are not available in standard product exports (PIM or Ecommerce exports).

What we’ve tried:

  • We’ve looked for ways to retrieve all related products in a generic, scalable way — either through Queries or Exports — but haven’t found a working solution so far.

What we need:

  • A way to filter/export all related product

  • Ideally, this includes relation group names and works across the full catalog

Question:

  • Is there a recommended approach to achieve this in DW10?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ferri,
Maybe you can create a view on SQL server and export that view.

Relevant tables: Ecomproducts, EcomProductsRelated, EcomProductsRelatedGroups.

If you don;t know how to do it, I can create a sample SQL statement and send it over.

Once you have the view, you can use DataIntegration, DynamicwebProvider with views, to create an export.

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for the information so far.

To be honest, I’m not very familiar with SQL and I don’t usually work directly with it, so I’m not fully sure how to proceed from here. Could you please guide me through the steps?

If possible, could you also provide:

  1. The SQL query/statement I should use

  2. Where I should run it (which screen/tool in Dynamicweb or SQL environment)

Once I have that, I can test it on our side.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Ferri,

- another way could be to use PIM Feeds (XML) where it's possible get all related products + attributes.

Hi Michael,

Do you have an example by any chance on how to accomplish this?

Hi Ferri,
I attached a file with a SQL statement for creating a View.
You have to go to open the file, copy the statement and go Settings > System > Database > Firehose (/Admin/UI/Settings/DatabaseFirehoseEdit). Paste the SQL statement in the window and hit "Run".

Please note that SQL firehose may render an error. In my case (10.21.1) it fails.
I will try to clarify with DW how can we create views from Firehose.

Hi Ferri,
Dynamicweb just confirmed the Create View issue was fixed in the following releases:

  • 10.23.0 (Released)
  • 10.22.3 (Released)
  • 10.21.9 (Released)

If you are running on one of these, the above instructions should work.
