Working with asset tree structure

Hi guys,

As an admin, I would like to be able to interact with the Asset tree structure whenever I have the option to browse assets. Currently, if you want to upload a file to a new folder within the structure while managing products, you must quit what you were doing, navigate to the assets structure, create a folder, and then resume your work.
I have reported this issue in the past on DW9, and it was solved.

I am not sure if this feature is already on the roadmap, but I would like to see it solved in DW10 as well.

Thank you,
Adrian

One more thing.
In some screens, you have the option to browse the asset structure or upload a file.
When you use the "Upload file" option, you cannot change the upload directory, generating a lot of mess in the Upload folder (everything is being uploaded in the same folder). I would like to be able to choose where I want to upload the file.

Thank you,
Adrian

Hello Adrian,

- I'm not sure if it helps you, but each asset category have it's own folder preset for uploads:

Hi Michael,

Thank you for the response, but it does not help.
Please try going to a category in the shop and try using the Import function.
You will probably understand what I mean.

Thank you,
Adrian

There is a feature request in git on choosing a folder when uploading from the file editor. So it will come.

But as Michael says you can set default folders for many of these image selectors in items and asset categories and the files will be uploaded there.

Hi Nicolai,

I am aware of the Assets setting, but that's not about the assets.

Try using the Import feature on a product category. You can only choose from existing folders, and usually, on a clean setup, you may need to define specific folders at least for input and output. I believe the issue is related to how that specific file control is set up. There may be other places where the behavior is similar.

Thank you,
Adrian
