You can do that.

We are moving to use allowed parents on the paragraphs instead to better support custom item type scenarios in Swift, but allowed children should work as well.

I have played around with the available options, in various configurations but I could not manage to restrict the paragraphs available for specific rows.

Can you please elaborate on this scenario?
Let's assume I have an itemType for a Row (Adrian_Row) and a few Paragraphs/Columns (Adrian_Paragraph, Nicolai_Paragraph).
What I am looking for, is to see Adrian_Row in the row options for a Page but only be able to select Adrian_Paragraph for the Adrian_Row columns.

I've tried to check the scenario using Swift 1: "Page + "1 Column" item types and new created item type available for paragraph named as "Adrian_Paragraph" on last DW10. So, to add the paragraph via Visual Editor's selector onto the "Page-Row" you have to add "Adrian_Paragraph" to Child permissions of "Page" item type ("1 Column" is already there) or add "Page" and "I Column" to Parent permissions of "Adrian_Paragraph" item type. Paragraphs based on other item types have permissions are out of the set will not be shown by the selector accordingly.

I could reproduce this scenario but I could not reproduce the scenario where Nicolai_Paragraph itemtype is also available for some rows but not for Adrian_Row, under the same Page item type.

Can you try that as well, please?

yup, the both paragraphs are available to select in the case, the row's Child permissions seem not to be applied now. I've created task #24038 to track the issue.
