I have a project running in DW9, where the customer was in need of a searchable Asset Library in frontend.
- This was built by: Utilizing Meta Fields on Assets in PIM (Asset Manager)
- Creating a Scheduled Task to convert the data from Asset Manager to metafields in the File Manager
- Adding Meta Fields to a Product Index, to allow searching for Productname, Product Model etc, including metafields through the file manager.
- Using a Product Catalog with Facets to combine it all in the frontend, with some modifications to the template.
It served the purpose, and now we are planning an extension of it. However I realise that in DW10 both Meta Fields in the Asset Manager and in the File Manager has been removed. Giving this customer 0 upgrade paths.
Is there anything in the roadmap to serve more data on Assets in the Asset Manager, that this could be transitioned to in the future?
