Hi

I can't get this setting to do anything...
It still opens in Visual editor.

What am I missing?
I want the item to open in item view, like it was possible in DW9.

The setting is related to designs that is not using the visual editor. So a page template that is not using @Model.Grid in it.

When you have a page using a layout that supports visual editor, visual editor is always used - and then you access the page properties from the pink settings icon in the visual editor:

I guess we can change this behavior to always open pages in item mode if set on the item type. But I think it is a little confusing.

If you have a page that actually does not use the visual editor, you can change the layout used on that specific item type to not include Model.Grid.

Can you ellaborate a bit on the use case - do you have a page with both a visual editor that have content and an item type with data on the page as the primary - or what is the setup?

Thank you for clarifying.

Hi Nicolai,

I can see one use case right aways: Blog Article.
With this type of object you have to fill first the details of the blog post, then the content in Visual Editor. There could be other situations where you have to fill some other details (like default product or product group or components).
But I don't see a very friendly and DW10-ish way of handling it.

Thank you,
Adrian

I see that as a good use case.

I have added feature 23713 and it is now ready for testing. That will change the behavior to also work for pages using visual editor.

Thanks.

If you use items for news, you need to define the news image, title and short description, so you have this information for the newslist, just like Adrian says for Swift articles.
And for the editor it would be nice to have easy access to this.

Hi all,

Just a FYI regarding always navigating to Visual Editor when a page uses @Model.Grid.

You can choose whether to show the paragraph list or Visual Editor by default. Just be aware that it's a global setting, changing the default behavior for all users, which may not be what you want. Some find it useful when working locally, but it's a matter of preference.
