Hi 👋🏼

I have an issue on converting a DW9 project to DW10, where Items use "Item-tab". I use this to inherit items, so I can centeralise item-functionality in seperate smaller items.

As of right now in DW10, Item-type is the only alternative, which dosn't give me the editor-experience that I would like.
(Quick example on 'tab'-wish attached)

Are there any current workarounds or future plans for re-introducing "tabs" or other alternatives to scrolling down within the frame?

Hej Mads

We have chosen not to support this as of right now - but it will be coming up as a more generic concept for all edit screens in Dynamicweb 10.

E.g. in PIM we have a task to allow the administrator to name tabs and groups in those tabs as they want in edit product - and then add the fields to the tabs and groups as they want it. If that makes sense. In DW10 this is a generic concept that covers all screens where you can edit data using screen presets.

So instead of just supporting tabs in item types (that in DW9 was made in item types as a quirky workaround) as they used to work, we will work with this more platform wise concept where you can define how you want to organize your fields in different editing scenarios.

In PIM you set up attributes and fields - like you do with item types. The idea is that on those field definitions you can define the tab and group the field should be shown in.

So coming up - but not like you know it from DW9

Hi Nicolai,

Thanks, sounds interesting – Looking forward to it.

In the meantime – Do you know if there's another workaround for working with inherited item types, so that they aren't all presented in level 1? (see attached screenshot).
When I fx have 3 items, all with another sub-itemtype attached.

Small detail, but it ends up being hard to tell that it's actually different 'subjects'.
