List of sortable fields in Queries and lists

Hi guys,

In PIM, at the top, we have a list of options for sorting:

In the past (prior to 9.13), according to one of our customers, the list here was directly related to the fields added in the List view of the Query.

Here:

I don't have a solution running on a version prior to 9.13 to confirm my customer's complaint, but they claim that after upgrading to 9.13, the list here is dependent on the list of fields the user is setting visible in the regular groups of the warehouse, and does not matter what is listed on the query:

Is this by design or a bug?

While this makes sense in the context of the Warehouse groups, it may not make sense while you're in the context of a Query.

Is there any way I can control the list of sortable fields in the context of my current query?

Thank you,
Adrian

Hi Adrian

I still have some old versions to look in and sorting options correctly adjusts to which columns you chose to show in frontend

However in my experience only Custom fields on products can be sorted on in the dropdown. Not Productcategory group fields

I checked in 9.9 version and also checked in a 9.15.8 version and both versions show sorting of Custom fields if I add them directly to my list by right clicking on the column title bar and selecting a new field to show the newly added field in the sorting options (tip may need to reload the list for it to show up in sorting)

So it may be a bug in your 9.13 version?
Or that you have columns with Product Category Group fields

I also find that adding visible fields to a query does not alter the sorting options shown. Only manual adding columns to the list or view does (again you need to reload og click away and come back for the sorting option to update). This is the case on both 9.9.10 and 9.15.8 - so no changes from previous versions (Of course there may be bugs in the specific version that I just testet on)

It would however be a good feature for Query chosen fields to show in the sorting options - so that it is not based on the individual user and what they chose to view as columns. But is more centrally controlled :-)

Hi Anett,

Thank you very much for the feedback.

In our case, it is always about ProductFields and not ProductCategoryFields.

This means that my customer remembered it wrong and it was always based on the Manual adding of fields in the list.

I guess I just felt that it would make sense to control the sorting fields based on the list of the fields you add manually in the List view. Especially because if you predefine the list of fields in the List view, you cannot add fields manually by right-clicking on the table header and the list will always honor a list of fields that may not be relevant for the current Query Data.

I hope it makes sense :)

Anyway, I know the answer for my customer, thank you again for that.

Adrian
