Unable to choose a new variant group on a already created VariantCombination

Hi,

Would it be possible for Dynamicweb to remember which products are in a VariantCombination, when changing the Variant Group?

At the moment every relation just gets deleted and you have to manually select every product again.

The experience is quite confusing as there is no way to select the products anywhere.

Lets say i would like to add an extra group to the VariantCombination:

This message appears:

Now i see this:

If i press on "CLICK HERE TO ADD A NEW ROW"

then it has added a new line, but without any relations to a product:

It will be a major change and there is no natural solution.

When you add a new dimension, all the underlying data will no longer fit and we have no where to put it.

If you have a bike in a size and you add a tube dimension - what dimension is all the sizes? Also there is a lot of variant ids referenced through out the system that needs to fit.

So if you have only sizes, the variant id might be "s" or "vo1" once you add another dimension, those ids are only half a variant and cannot be used.

So question is what should happen with existing variants when you add a new dimension? And if you have size already and add color, which might be a dimension of 100s of colors - you do not want them all...

Hi Nicolai,

You are right, that it will be huge change.

For now i will advice my customers to dissolve the variantcombination, and combine them again.
