Form files as links instead of text

I found this thread, https://doc.dynamicweb.com/forum/templates/templates/forms-for-editors-how-to-link-files-in-the-email-template, where it states that I could check for input type and then create a link-tag to surround this. So I did, but no link in my email.

This is my kode

if (field.GetString("Field.Type") == "File")
{
<a href="@submitOptionText">@Translate("Filvedlegg")</a>
}
else
{
@type
@fieldIsFile
@submitOptionText 

<a href="https://vg.no">Random link to a newspaper</a>

}

In order to understand what is happening, I output the type and a variable fieldIsFile where I check if field.type == File. On my file upload fields it says File True, but still no link. I also tried to create a link to a random webpage, but this one wasn't outputted in my html email either. I found no references online that links in html email is forbidden, so I wonder if there is a list of allowd html in your form/mail function that strips away links.

Can you show your entire template and the setup of the forms app on the given page?

The template is a copy of your DefaultMailReceipt.cshtml from DW  9.7.1 so I omitted the css. it provides nothing now and makes the code much larger. further, there are some minor changes, but for labels and text-colors and nothing that could make or break the link.

I've marked the relevant code with orange. and even though the condition of being a file is met, the loop never reaches this point and I really don't understand why.
