Generate PDF in PIM (Rapido 3.1)

Hi,

I have just installed the new Rapido 3.1. and I miss the feature "Generate PDF" in the PIM website.

Is this feature not anymore available? It would be very useful for retailers to get a customized PDF catalog with their chosen products.

Regards,
Tomas

Hi Thomas

It should be set on the Digital warehouse site

  • If you go on the website Digital warehouse
  • You can log in with DemoUser
  • go to e.g. product 10001
  • On the tabs you should find "Generate PDF"
  • See attched image (DigitalWarehouse-site.png) & (digitalwarehouse-generate-PDFtab.png)

If it is not set on he Digital ware house then do this in website settings

  1. If you cannot find "Generate PDF"  tab you can go in website settings for Digitalwarehouse
  2. Go to Website settings / Product page tab
  3. Find the Details group and the setting Generate PDF layout and set it to e.g. tab
  4. Save website settings and you should see it on front end
  5. See attched image (Enable - Generated PDF layout.png )

Known Bug

  • However, we have discovered a bug in the template, but there is a quick fix for this
  • In Template/Design/Rapido/eCom/Product/ProductPDF.cshtml
  • Remove ../ see attached image  (ProductPDF-changes.png)
  • We will fix this on the next hotfix for Rapido 3.1.1

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for the indications, I couldn't find it.

I followed your instructions to modify the template, but the generated PDF is blank. Is it a bug or should I do further actions? There are old questions about this issue in the forum here and here.

Regards,
Tomas

Hi Thomas

Do you have a site I can see or maybe you can create a video?
The old links you have send are regarding some issues in the older versions of Rapido where there was a website called RapioPIM
This site does not exist anymore in Rapido 3.1 . We have created a new site called Digital warehouse

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

It is the same problem as in old versions. I'm using the Digital warehouse in a local installation of DW 9.6.3 and Rapido 3.1.

To reproduce the error:

  1. Install DW 9.6.3. and Rapido 3.1.
  2. Go to the Digital Warehouse in the frontend
  3. Select a product
  4. In the "Generate PDF" tab, press the "Generate PDF" button
  5. The PDF is blank

I attach a screenshot of the "Generate PDF" button and the generated PDF

Adding "&PDF=TRUE" to the URL may download a blank PDF (e.g. if the URL is the frontpage) or may redirect to the "404 not found" page (e.g. if the URL is a product page).

As indicated here, the Load User Profile option is enabled for the Application Pool of the website. Should I check any other configuration?

Hi Thomas

Do you host this you self? Take a look at the event viewer in windows and also that in Dynamicweb and see what exception is present.

Also add &pdf=true while in developer mode in the browser and checkout redirects, exceptions etc. Look at headers.

Also ensure that your app pool user has access to the templ folder under Windows.
