Hi,

A customer is trying to export products to excel through the PIM. He's having troubles when he tries to export large numbers of products. Can this be optimized so it exports all products of that view?

Best Regards,

Nuno Aguiar

Hello Nuno,

I've created new TFS #61630 for solving this problem.

Thank you for this note.

Best wishes,

How many products do you have? This feature is not meant to handle large number of products - it is meant to handle 'limited' amounts of products for translation etc. Export module can be used for large amounts.

And what is 'trouble' - exceptions, wrong data, wrong colors, too much time?

Hi Nicolai,

The customer request came from creating a query that had a few thousand products and creating an excel file to provide to partners:

  • They created a query
  • They clicked on "Export to Excel" and chose the fields they wanted the partner to know about

The customer's expectation was to easilly export product data; sort of a "Data Integration for Editors" concept. I can come back saying "Data Integration handles this, but it's a techier approach" and it's fine for now.

After posting this thread I found this one https://doc.dynamicweb.com/forum/pim/pim/exporting-more-than-1000-items and posted the issue I was having with even 100 items. Kristian created a TFS #61630 because of it https://www.screencast.com/t/T4kDIwI0lG

In my screencast you can see I get a 404 or a 200 by just changing the number of products, prior to exporting to excel.

Hope that answers your question, if not, let me know.

Best Regards,

Nuno Aguiar

I wanted to follow up with this to see if it ever fully got addressed. I am still seeing the issue Nuno reported above in 9.8.4 when using Chrome, and in this case trying to export 800+ items to excel from a shared query. When I use Firefox I am able to export as expected.

Currently not. There are some improvements in 9.9 and we have a feature so you can export all products in a list without loading them in the UI. But it is not planned yet.

So you have to use data integration until then.
