"No layout selected for website" in training-certification

I just started using dynamic web and to learn i use this guide: http://doc.dynamicweb.com/training-certification/t1-content-implementer/t1-content-implementer/1-1-pages-paragraphs-websites

I'm on the step "Creating a page" where im stuck. When previewing the page i get ""

When looking at Figure 3.2 Page overview with the new page you can see that the chosen template is "Designs/newDesign/index.cshtml". In my Designs-folder i just have Rapido and RapidoPIM. Did i miss something in the guide?

Hi David,

Don't worry about it - the second tutorial will teach you about creating a design with a page layout.

The issue here is that the tutorials were developed with a freshly installed empty solution in mind, and those contain a barebones design called newDesign which isn't present on a Rapido solution. In tutorial 1.2 you will move on and:

  • Create a design from scratch
  • Use an external design
  • Make the external design dynamic

Any other comments or questions, just let me know :)

Ok, thats good. However, the original "files" folder is still intact and there's no "newDesign"-folder there either.

A footnote like "dont worry if your page doesnt work right now, in chapter 2 we will activate it" would be good.

And while we're at it, in step 2 it says

  • Create a new Razor file – name it Default

But how do i create a razor file? is it the same as a .cshtml?

Hi David,

Thank you for your feedback - I've added the note :)

Yes, a Razor file is a .cshtml file. We used to have a dropdown where you could select only a particular subset of file types, which would then be created with the right extension. We've since removed that limit, and I'll edit the instruction.

Nice! Thanks for updating the page too =D Love it when ppl take feedback and fixes things fast =)

i got one more! under 1.2 there is a code-block with no information to it! Im guessing i should update the index.cshtml under Designs/MyDesign with this code?

Morning :)

I.... actually don't know what that piece of code was doing there - sometimes weird stuff happens with multiple editors. I've removed it - sorry about that :)
