random news from News V2

We would like to show a group of news items on the frontpage, and I would like to know if it is possible to show them in random order - lets say that we have 7 active news, and in the frontpage we need only 3 - but these three should be loaded in different/random order, each time you load the page.

Is it at all possible to do this?

Using XSLT it is possible to do something almost random (based on time) - but will require quite a lot of work.

Simple way would be having a javascript randomly hiding 3 of 7 news.
