Leftmenu not folding out when subpage has subpages

The dwnavigation settings I use are:
Startlevel: 2, endlevel:4, expandmode:Path, template:LIClean_leftmenu.xslt.

The problem Im having is that the expandmode works on the first level subpages, I.E. what is shown in the left navigation. If any of those pages in the left navigation have any subpages, then these are not shown, even when that page is chosen. The subpages to the pages in the left menu navigation should be shown only if their parentpage in the left navigation is selected, and I cant see what Im doing wrong. please help.

Your template was allright - there was a caching issue - pages in database which were not in memory... So i restarted the website and voila.
