Have a new forum module as work in progress. It is not a "Can do everything" module.

Are you thinking of specific features or just in general rich forum features?

Here is a list of the features people have been asking for:
 - upload bigger files
 - user information in posts and threads (image, nr of posts, nr of threads, rank level) (it requires a lot of javascript at the moment to get this done)
 - latest post/threads (without the use of the database publishing module)
 - FCK editor for posts and threads
 - better pool management (limit votes per user)
 - nr views of the thread
 - search (with the search module) in the forum threads and posts
