for some reason, the news module inserts a <br/> at the start of the paragraph, and it realy breaks the design.

 

Is there any way I can prevent this?

The resulting HTML looks like this :

my paragraph looks like this:

<!--ParagraphImage--><!--@ParagraphText--><!--@ParagraphModule-->

 

So I'm guessing it comes from !--@ParagraphText-- or <!--@ParagraphModule--> ?

You should look under Templates\NewsV2 templates to find your answer :)
